Reasearch has shown that when someone picks up your CV to read they decide in less than three seconds whether to read the whole thing. If you make it through this hurdle then the next two minutes are critical if you want to make it into the yes pile. Even in this quick read the mistakes, if you have made any ,and many people do, will jump right off the page and could send it to the NO pile. Here’s some quotes from CV’s that should have been checked a little more carefully.

• “As security guard my job is to pervert unauthorised people from comming onto the site”
• “My job involved processing clams”
• “I am a pubic relations officer”
• “My interests include cooking dogs and interesting people”
• “I was responsible for dissatisfied customers”
• “I relieved the conference manager”
• “I am a prooficient typist”
• “I was responsible for frauulant claims”
• “While working in this role,  I had intercourse with a variety of people’
• “Left the last four jobs only because the managers were completely unreasonable”

So take a little extra time, it’ll pay off on the long run.
